BEACH WEDDING - PHOTOGRAPHY

Beach Wedding Photography - Photojournalistic #1

One thing I learned for sure in planning our wedding in 2009, is that wedding photography had evolved over the years. Originally, my plan was to save on the area of photography as part of the overall budget.  I had convinced myself that just having a photographer for a short period of time to take the basic photos was all we needed.  I changed my mind when I started an online search for potential photographers.  Initially, I found plenty of photographers online who had gallery after gallery of traditional formal wedding photos.  (overall, a big snoozer.)   Fortunately, I came across a photography studio referenced on a wedding website and the photos were amazing!

I learned about a style of photography called 'photojournalistic'.  Simply put, it's about telling the story of your wedding day.  The significance of this style to me is the capturing of details and special moments rather than your 'typical' posed wedding formals and other shots. When reviewing the possibilities, it was clear (to me) this was a better approach. I also liked in this case, multiple photographers are used to capture all the right moments and angles.

Despite the fact that I was scared to inquire about prices - I did it anyways.  As expected - some of their packages cost almost as much as my entire wedding budget!  I thanked them for the information and explained that I was intrigued by their style of photography but unfortunately they were outside of our budget.  They responded with information on their sister company who might provide something that was more in my price range.  Fortunately, with a slight increase in our original photography budget, that was the case!

I would reccomend to anyone planning a wedding to look into photographers who adhere to this type of style; nowadays perhaps many of them do.  Take a look at their sample galleries and they will definately stand out against the old school traditional style.  Just do searches for "photojournalistic wedding"

Wedding Tip: Consider the option of purchasing the rights to the digital photography - much more common today than years ago.  That is how I am able to print my own pictures, create my own albums, Christmas Cards, and post photos here on my blog.

Sebrie Images of Fort Myers, FL was responsible for the photography at our wedding.
